Poland booked their ticket to Tokyo at the European championships in May 2021, where their time of 3:32.82 made them one of the four fastest teams in the qualification period that had not already qualified via the 2019 World Championships. They are competing at their third consecutive Olympic Games, and their best Olympic performance so far saw them place seventh in the final at the 1996 Games in Atlanta.

In 2016 in Rio, they swam the 12th-fastest time in the heats, and also did not make the final four years earlier in London, where they ranked 16th from 16 teams.

At the world championships, they have made eight appearances since 1994 and finished with a best rank of eighth [2011, 2015]. At the 2019 edition in Gwangju, their time in the heats saw them rank 21st overall.

Poland came fourth at the European championships in May 2021, which was their highest ranking at the tournament since they won bronze in 1997.
