RETIREMENT AND COMEBACK
In February 2017 he announced his retirement. "I feel fulfilled in 99%. My career was successful, but the missing 1% is an Olympic medal. I didn't achieve that, because of a lack of a bit of luck and experience." He stayed involved in swimming, working as a coach, and also took up triathlon as an amateur. In late 2019 he announced his return to the sport setting himself qualification for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo as a goal. "Being encouraged by my friend - Marcin Cieslak, I decided that I will try one more time to qualify for the Olympic Games, my fifth Games. He led me on. He wanted to race with me again. He kept saying 'Let's go for training with me, try one more time. Jump in and see how it is.' And we started to swim together, we also had camps and classes for children. I jumped in to the swimming pool and the love towards the sport returned." COACHING
He is a co-founder of the 5Styl Warszawa swimming club. "We organise camps for children, we help to improve masters, we give individual lessons. We are trying to share our knowledge and passion with people. I think that I am fulfilling myself as a coach and that I can pass the knowledge I have. I really like working with children, but also with adults. In the case of adult amateurs, levels go up quickly. I give them a few exercises and see the progress. I can see happiness in their faces when, after many attempts, something suddenly works out, when they start to swim freely after one exercise or they improve their leg work. Such work also gives a lot of happiness." (polsatsport.pl, 09 Apr 2020)
