She says she realised her childhood dream by qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. She has shared that when she was younger she wanted to dress as an Olympic swimmer to go trick-or-treating on Halloween. "I remember going through the process of getting ready and my mum saying, 'Claire, you can't do that. It's going to be too cold to walk around in a bathing suit.' It's still kind of weird when people come up to me and say, 'Oh my gosh, you're an Olympian.' But I think I'm getting used to it." (nsjonline.com, 23 Jun 2021)
