TOKYO FINAL PUSH
She managed to achieve the FINA A qualifying standard in 100m backstroke for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in her final attempt at the Swim Ireland Performance Meet in Dublin in June 2021. The time she needed was 1:00.25 and she set an Irish national record of 1:00.18 to secure selection for the 2020 Games. "It was now or never. I knew I had done the work and it was about remembering that. It was quite a nerve-wracking day. I had my dad on the phone on my way to the venue and he was in tears before I had even been out. I knew I just had to hang on and thank goodness the training paid off. It means everything. I think for any athlete it is the pinnacle of their career and I am so proud to have represented Larne whilst doing it. I am beyond proud to be able to represent Ireland in Tokyo. It's not been the prettiest of roller coasters but that makes it even sweeter." (Instagram profile, 07 Jul 2021; swimireland.ie, 24 Jun 2021; bbc.com, 24 Jun 2021)

OCCUPATION
