"One of the most important things you should do as a surfer is visualise. Surf the waves in your mind, trying to be one step ahead of what might happen during a competition. Every wave is different. There is a huge margin for improvisation and many situations can happen during a 20-minute heat. You have to have a clear mind and be positive. Surfing is 80% mental and 20% physical.
