:
His father Marco Antonio Carrillo Palomino and his grandfather Victor Carrillo Chavez have competed in shooting at an elite level. His father has also coached the sport at national level in Peru. (Lima 2019 YouTube channel, 24 Aug 2015; Asociacion de Tiro Olimpico Facebook page, 23 Mar 2014; peru21.pe, 05 Nov 2019; esvicsac.com.pe, 08 Nov 2019)
:
In 2018 he fractured his collarbone in a motorbike accident. Doctors told him he couldn't compete for six months, but against their advice he travelled to the 2018 South American Games in Cochabamba, Bolivia, where he won gold in the 10m air pistol and silver in the 25m rapid fire pistol. (deportivaesvicsac.com.pe, 08 Nov 2019)
:
He began shooting at age five. "With the help of my father and my grandfather I began practising this sport at age five, which is when I had enough strength and judgement to be able to hold a gun. I grew up around the shooting range. Since I was a child I have accompanied my father to the shooting ranges in different national and regional championships, where I saw him compete and emerge victorious. These are the most fond memories of my childhood." (depor.com, 08 Aug 2019; esvicsac.com.pe, 08 Nov 2019; depor.com, 08 Aug 2019)

He was initially inspired by Peruvian shooter Edwin Vasquez, who won Peru's first Olympic gold medal at the 1948 Games, and later by Cuban Leuris Pupo's 25m rapid fire pistol gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. "I saw Leuris and the desire to be at the Olympics myself, representing my country, was immediate. I spoke with my father and told him that I wanted to start competing nationally. I didn't have my own guns, so he lent me his." (depor.com, 08 Aug 2019; esvicsac.com.pe, 08 Nov 2019; depor.com, 08 Aug 2019 )

To win a medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. (elperuano.pe,16 Oct 2020)
:
He has a 10-metre shooting range at his home in Lima, Peru. He also has training bases in the United States of America and in Mexico, and uses weights and distractions to prepare for competitions. "We have a preseason, it's kind of like a massacre, where we do physical work all day, some specifically designed for shooting such as strengthening the upper body and the arms, because it gets very tiring when carrying a weapon that weighs a kilogramme. We have done a lot of training with noise and with distractions, so that if distractions occur in a real situation it will not affect us. We always put ourselves in the worst situations in training so we are prepared." (elperuano.pe, 16 Oct 2020; lima2019.pe, 11 Nov 2020; larepublica.pe, 23 Apr 2020)
:
Returning early from injuries he sustained in a motorbike accident to win gold in the 10m air pistol and silver in the 25m rapid fire pistol at the 2018 South American Games in Cochabamba, Bolivia, which earned him a place at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, where his bronze medal secured an Olympic quota for Peru in the 25m rapid fire pistol. "Following the circumstances of my injuries, I think my performance [at the South American Games] was one of the most important achievements of my sports career. [The Pan American Games bronze] was the best performance of my life." (deportivaesvicsac.com.pe, 08 Nov 2019; larepublica.pe, 23 Apr 2020)

"Mental strength [in shooting] is more important. You can be in top physical condition, but concentration is vital." (ovacion.oe, 02 Aug 2019)

In 2019 he received an Order of Merit for Distinguished Services from the Peruvian Government. (Instagram profile, 14 August 2019)
