In 2019 he and his crewmate Peter Burling founded an ocean conservation charity called Live Ocean. "We've been talking to scientists, iwi [a Maori word meaning 'people' or 'nation'] and ocean leaders over the past year. We keep hearing the same thing; the ocean is changing quickly.
