General Interest

General
RIO DISAPPOINTMENT
He says he was disappointed in the Australian sevens team's performance at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, but that the memory motivates him and his national teammates to produce a better showing at the 2020 Games in Tokyo. "The [2020] Olympics is a big one. In 2016 we underperformed and came eighth I think. That left a pretty bad taste in our mouths and at the time, I didn't think I'd get to go back again. Having the opportunity to possibly do better there is huge." (smh.com.au, 05 Jul 2018)

RETURN TO SEVENS
After the 2016/17 World Series he switched to rugby union [15-a-side] for a year. He represented Australia at the 2017 U20 World Championships in Georgia, then signed with Melbourne Rebels for the 2018 Super Rugby season. However, he was given only limited playing time with the Rebels, and was granted an early release by the side in order to re-sign for the Australian national sevens team in July 2018. "I had that empty spot in my heart when I wasn't playing. I was missing the sevens program, touring and playing the game I really enjoy and love. It was a pretty easy decision." (smh.com.au, 05 Jul 2018)
