LACK OF OLYMPIC EXPERIENCE
He says he wishes he could have had the opportunity to compete at a major international championship as a player. "I retired in 2010 and rugby was played for the first time in the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, so I missed the chance. Having been in the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, ON, Canada [as a coach] was a great experience. Living in an Olympic village is something I can't describe with words but that I wish every athlete can live some time. I was not lucky enough to play in the Olympic era and would have given anything to play in the Games. I think my generation did much in the early years of the circuit to put rugby sevens in the Olympics and it fills me with pride. I understand the passion that players have now and I envy their luck. At least as a coach I will have the opportunity to participate in the Olympic Games." (rugbytime.com, 01 Dec 2015)

SPORTING RELATIVES
His brother Pablo Gomez Cora has also represented Argentina in rugby sevens and his cousins Nicolas and Juan Gomez Cora have also been involved in the sport. His older cousin Nicolas died in August 2006 at age 31 after he suffered heart failure and collapsed on the pitch during a match with his club Lomas Athletic in La Plata, Argentina.
