He tore a ligament in his right knee during a match against Australia at the 2017 Hong Kong Sevens tournament in April of that year. He underwent surgery and was sidelined for the 2017 U20 World Championships. He returned to competitive action at the 2018 Sydney Sevens tournament in January of that year.
