She began playing rugby [15-a-side] at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL, United States of America, and was introduced to sevens the summer before her senior year at the Chicago North Shore club. (usarugby.org, 21 Jul 2016)
:
She played volleyball, football and athletics at Meridian High School in Idaho, United States of America. She was then recruited to play rugby after entering university. "I love sevens because there is no hiding when you play, and I love the team element compared to individual sports." (usarugby.org, 21 Jul 2016; americansportsnet.com, 05 Aug 2015)

General Interest

General
DELAYED RETIREMENT
She had originally planned to retire from the sport after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, but due to the postponement of the Games she decided to play for an extra year. "I was planning to retire [in 2020] so I guess I'm not sad by it [the Olympic Games] being delayed. I get to play rugby another year and it is something I love to do. I can't say that I'm sad. I'm almost excited to get the team right and see what we can do out there." (herald-review.com, 24 Mar 2020)

CHANGING POSITION
She played centre for most of her sevens career, including at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. In 2020 she said she had recently switched to fly-half due to her passing ability. "Passing is a huge key and I have a pretty long, hard pass and, I would say, the ability to play-make and set other people up. I link the line together when we are on defence. I'm a big communicator throughout the game, keeping people on the same page." (herald-review.com, 28 Feb 2020)
