After finishing high school she wanted to play basketball at college, but after a semester found that it was too difficult to commit to her studies and the training required to play NCAA Division I basketball, so she opted to play rugby instead. "During the college recruiting process, the [West Point] basketball coaches were aware of my desire to play both sports. However, the time commitment required for Division I basketball and academics at West Point proved to be impossible. Basketball was my first passion but now it's rugby and I'm not looking back." General
RIO RESERVE
She was selected as a reserve for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, but did not feature in any games in Rio. "You cannot call me an Olympian. I was there [in Rio] but, while some of my teammates and friends are Olympians, I'm not. It was hard at moments. There were tears sometimes. That's motivation for me - to strive for that [playing at the 2020 Games in Tokyo]." (thescrum.aedelhard.com, 18 Oct 2018)

LEAVING COLLEGE
She spent two semesters playing rugby for the United States Military Academy West Point before leaving the college to return to California to play rugby with the national sevens team. "A part of me felt pretty bad about leaving college to go pursue this Olympic dream, but I think it's all meant to be. I think I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be and I'm learning a lot despite that I have yet to be an Olympian. I've learned a lot through this journey and things I can take on and just life in general." (montanasports.com, 06 Apr 2020)
