She played hockey, basketball and softball at high school, but switched to rugby as she enjoyed it the most. "I always knew about [rugby] because of my dad, who helped grow the sport at Saint Michael's College. I remember going to a couple touch-flag rugby [matches] when I was a kid. I always knew about it but I never went full bore with it until high school. I wanted to try something new in the spring and I went out for the rugby team at South Burlington and it was fun." (burlingtonfreepress.com, 12 Dec 2019)
:
"I think for me, it combines a lot of the sports I played into one. I played field hockey, basketball and softball at Burlington and rugby has allowed me to use my body the way I think it was intended. Rugby allows me to use all my talents. Even in the first year playing for South Burlington I was able to carry the ball and get through contact. I think it always just clicked, right when I started playing." (burlingtonfreepress.com, 12 Dec 2019)
