General Interest

General
BUSINESS OWNER
In 2014 he established a fashion brand The OutLook in Kenya. "I love fashion and design. The fashion industry is amazing and I have wanted to explore it, and in 2014 I started my own fashion brand, The OutLook. I came up with the very first design which I printed on 50 t-shirts, which upon selling helped me build up my working capital. I did not have much of that when starting up. Earlier in the year [speaking in 2020] we started the process of incorporating it into a private limited company, and in June 2020 we received the certificate of incorporation." (standardmedia.co.ke, 31 Aug 2020; themaverick.co.ke, 19 Jun 2020)

BALANCING STUDIES AND SPORT
In 2014 he received his first contract with the Kenyan national rugby sevens team, while also studying finance at the United States International University Africa in Nairobi, Kenya. He says balancing both sport and studies during that time has helped him during his sporting career. "It was hard [in 2014] because I got my first national team contract and I needed to impress so I could stay longer in the team, but I also needed to do school. It was not easy, we trained from 06:00 to midday, and in between I had to go back for classes. I did miss some classes in the lead-up to my first [national] tour. Every single time I had exams or tournaments, I had to tell both the rugby side and the school side, and try to find something in between. If I was not able to find a solution in between, I would have to choose one, and almost always I chose school. I'd rather be dropped from a tournament and start from scratch with the national team. I guess I made a position during that time that has helped my sporting career since then to now." (Kenya Rugby Facebook page, 07 Aug 2020)

OTHER STUDIES
He has also studied finance at the United States International University Africa in Nairobi, Kenya. (Facebook profile, 14 Jan 2019; shujaapride.com, 01 Jan 2017)
