"When I started at high school in 2014 my brother Hugh was in year 11 and was rowing in the first eight. Not really taking a liking to cricket or tennis, it seemed like it would be a good alternative. In 2018 I raced the U19 M2x [men's double sculls] at the national championships. It was my first real taste of rowing outside of high school eights. In the final we were fourth at the 1000 metres and came through the field to win. The enjoyment of winning on a larger stage definitely sparked a desire in me to pursue more." (row2k.com, 07 Jul 2021)
