RETIREMENT AND RETURN
After the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, she retired from the sport and in 2017 took up a role in planning and coordination with the International Olympic committee [IOC] in Lausanne, Switzerland. She returned to competition in February 2019 and won gold at the New Zealand national championships in single sculls. "After time away from the sport, I gained a lot of perspective and realised that it is a real privilege to compete in rowing and strive to be the best. I would like to make the most of it while I'm still able. I hope that my return to rowing will inspire others." FURTHER STUDIES
Following her gold medal in single sculls at the 2014 World Championships in Amsterdam, Netherlands, she took a year off international competition to study in Europe. She completed a postgraduate FIFA Master in management, law and humanities of sport. The course featured three modules at three different universities, De Montfort University in Leicester, England, SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan, Italy, and the University of Neuchatel in Switzerland.
