He first represented New Zealand at junior level in 2011, racing in the quad. In 2013 and 2014 he was part of the eight crew that won back-to-back U23 world championship titles, before stepping up to the elite eight boat in 2015. He was part of the men's eight that finished fourth at the 2015 World Championships in Aiguebelette, France, which secured qualification for New Zealand in the event at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. It was the first time a New Zealand men's eight had qualified for an Olympic Games since the 1984 Games in Los Angeles. Milestones
