She represented Belarus until 2016, but then switched nationality and started to compete for the Russian Federation in 2019. "My training in Belarus had exhausted itself. I realised that I could not shine there. I had good friends in Russia - Andrey Kostygov, now my personal coach, and his daughter Vasilisa Stepanova, who won silver in the women's pair [at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo].
