General Interest

General
CREWMATE
He and his crewmate Jerzy Kowalski both took up rowing at the same time, having attended school together. They trained at the same club and under the same coach, teaming up for the first time in 2009 at the U23 World Championships in Racice, Czech Republic. "A few months after becoming a crew, we competed in the senior Polish national championships and won gold. Since then I have loved rowing with Jerzy." (rp.pl, 26 Apr 2017)

SANCTION
In February 2018 he tested positive to the prohibited stimulant 1,3-dimethylbutylamine [1,3-DMBA] at the 2018 World Indoor Championships in Alexandria, VA, United States of America. His explanation that the substance entered his system without his knowledge through a supplement was accepted by a World Rowing [FISA] disciplinary panel, and he was given a 12-month suspension. He was able to return to competition in March 2019. "I was at risk of a four-year suspension but I was able to show the panel that I used the supplement in training the day before competition, which stayed in my system until the next day. The mistake I made was to not consult with my doctor about the supplement, so I am not without fault. I accept the penalty humbly and hope it will serve as a warning to other athletes."
