"I started by chance. In the third year of junior high school my physical education teacher took my class for competitions all around the river, more in fun than serious competition. I started with a friend in the canoe competition. Then a coach came to me and said he was looking for volunteers for a rowing class and I was suitable. I was unaware of the sport but made an appointment for the first workout." (wywiady24.blog.onet.pl, 12 Oct 2015)

General Interest

General
ROWING COUPLE
She admits that she is more nervous when she watches her husband Wiktor Chabel competing in rowing than she is when she is participating in her own events. The pair met during a Polish national rowing training camp in Portugal, shortly after she had joined the national team, and got married in 2017. "When we are training we are totally separated and focused on our jobs, however sometimes during competitions I'm more stressed about his performance than mine. It was the case during the Olympic qualifier ahead of Rio in 2016." ( Pani Krol YouTube channel, 29 Jan 2020; plus.nowosci.com.pl, 24 Nov 2017; pztw.pl, 06 Nov 2017)

CHANGE OF BOAT
After winning bronze at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in quadruple sculls, she switched boats and began competing in the coxless four. "I have always liked sweep rowing, so once I had the opportunity to switch I took it up immediately and I feel great with the change." (SportsDeskOnline, 07 Jun 2021; interia.pl, 08 Sep 2017)

OTHER ACTIVITIES
She has served as a volunteer firefighter in Slesin, Poland. "When I was a child the fire brigade organised various games and activities for the local children. It was just for entertainment, but I was so impressed I joined as a volunteer. I mainly helped to handle situations after car accidents and natural disasters." (Facebook profile, 30 Jan 2020; pztw.pl, 01 Dec 2016, 01 Mar 2015)
