General Interest

General
FROM AUSTRALIA TO NEW ZEALAND
He represented Australia in 2014 and 2015 before switching sporting allegiance to New Zealand in 2019. He qualifies to represent New Zealand through his mother Ellie Hayward, who grew up in Dunedin, New Zealand. He made his debut for New Zealand in October 2019 in a test series against Japan in Stratford, New Zealand. "I was with Australia for seven years but didn't play much. When I got dropped I just did a bit of travelling so I've been the last four years away in Europe and Malaysia playing the sport. I thought my international days were done, but I'm glad I have a second chance with New Zealand." (fih.ch, 23 Nov 2015, fih.ch, 03 Nov 2019; ntnews.com.au, 08 Dec 2015; rnz.co.nz, 30 Sep 2019; nzherald.co.nz, 02 Oct 2019)

FACING OFF AGAINST BROTHER
His switch to represent New Zealand means he faces the prospect of playing against his brother Jeremy, who is a defender for the Australian national team. "It'd be pretty cool. My dad has been talking about it. He said he's got a foot in each camp now so whatever happens he'll be happy. [Jeremy's] a very good player. He does all the drag-flicking, but I've seen a lot of it. I've grown up with him so I think I might have him covered." (rnz.co.nz, 30 Sep 2019)
