Her father Yuji Nagai was head coach of the Japanese women's hockey team at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and has also coached the Japanese club Sony HC Bravia Ladies. Her mother Rieko is a former hockey player who represented Japan at the 1981 World Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her older sister Yuri and younger brother Yuma has competed in the sport at international level, and Yuri was part of the Japanese national team alongside Hazuki at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
