He initially combined football and handball before deciding to focus on handball in his late teens. He decided to pursue handball after undergoing a growth spurt between grades eight and nine at school. He says combining both sports in his youth allowed him to become a more versatile player. "I was quite good at football too, and maybe if you are small in stature as I was, and train at other things, they will benefit you later in your career." (solidsport.com, 01 Nov 2019)

THOUGHTS OF QUITTING
He considered quitting the sport at age 15 after he was not selected for the Swedish Cup, a handball tournament for U15 district teams in Sweden. He says he considered himself one of the shorter handball players at the time, which made him question whether handball was the right sport for him. "I was not far from quitting handball. The Sweden Cup was a bit of a utopia for me, so it was hard not being allowed to take that step. I was small for quite some time, and it is a sensitive age, adolescence. You take a beating when things do not go the way you want. Of course, you really want to succeed immediately. You prefer to get everything you want when you try. But that is not the case, and one must try not to constantly compare oneself. Everyone has their different pros and cons." (solidsport.com, 01 Nov 2019)

PREVIOUS OCCUPATION
He previously worked as a substitute sport teacher at high school. (ystadsallehanda.se, 23 Dec 2008)
