SANCTION
She and two other players from the Russian youth team, Maria Duvakina and Mariia Dudina, tested positive for the banned substance meldonium at the 2017 European U19 Championship in Slovenia. The Russian team was stripped of the silver medal they won at the tournament, and the three athletes initially received a 20-month suspension each from the European Handball Federation [EHF]. The suspension was initially reduced by three months by the EHF Anti-doping Unit due to the assistance given by the players to the authorities investigating the matter. In May 2018, after an appeal by the players, the EHF Court of Appeal then reduced the period of suspension by a further five months due to their young age, meaning the players ultimately served a 12-month suspension with Skorobogatchenko permitted to play again from 01 August 2018.
