His older brother Rene has represented Denmark in handball. He competed at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, winning gold at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. His younger brother Allan has represented Denmark in the sport at youth level, and competed at the 2015 World Youth Championships in Yekaterinburg, Russian Federation. His wife Ulrika has represented Sweden in the sport, and competed at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
