In 2018 he was appointed a member of the Commission of Coaching and Methods of the International Handball Federation [IHF].

He has served as head coach of Spanish women's teams Arrate [1996-98], Corteblanco Bidebieta [1998-99] and BM Zuazo [2005-06]. He also coached the men's team at Arrate [1999-05], and began his coaching career at Spanish side Iberduero [1995-96]. He served as head coach of the Spanish women's national team between 2007 and 2017.
