General
RIO DISAPPOINTMENT FUELS TOKYO FIRE
He says missing out on the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro enhanced his motivation ahead of the 2020 Games in Tokyo. "For me the Olympics was something I grew up on, watching every four years. You see those iconic Olympic moments but you never thought as a golfer you'd be part of that. It was something I wanted to do five years ago and missed. I was desperate to make this team. For me it was the same kind of feelings I had trying to make other teams for the first time. I've got a small window of opportunity. I'm older than these guys and so I felt this was probably my last great opportunity to make an Olympic team. The chance to win a medal and represent Great Britain is why I'm going to be there and I couldn't be more proud of that. I've wanted this for such a long time. I've got a great opportunity here to have a summer [including the 2021 Open Championship and 2021 Ryder Cup] which could define my career, if I capture lightning in a bottle. I just need to play the golf I'm capable of and probably get a little bit of luck as well from some of the other guys out there." (bbc.com, 06 Jul 2021; bt.com, 06 Jul 2021)

COVID-19 IMPACT
In 2020 he went three months without playing after the PGA Tour was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that year still went on to finish second at the 2020 PGA Championship in San Francisco, CA, United States of America. "I worked on the body and the mind, but yeah, no golf for three months, not a single shot. I think, five or six weeks to get ready [for the 2020 PGA Championship]. I worked out a lot in those first three months. I wasn't doing nothing." (golfchannel.com, 08 Aug 2020)

FOUNDATION
In 2007 he set up the Paul Casey Foundation. The organisation helps young golfers with scholarships and is based at Foxhills Country Club in Chertsey, England. (pgatour.com, 27 Jun 2021)
