General Interest

General
TOKYO AMBITION
She says she is relishing the opportunity to compete for a medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo as she is uncertain if she will still be playing by the 2024 Games in Paris. She represented Canada at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. "I'm glad that they've actually moved it [the 2020 Olympic Games] to 2021 and rather than just cancel it entirely, because in four more years I mean I don't know where I'll be. I hope to be still playing and being competitive but time isn't on my side necessarily. My goal is to win a medal. To be a two-time Olympian, nobody can take that away from me. When I am 70 or 80 years old talking about my golf career, I can say I am a two-time Olympian and that I got to wear the red and white. It would be a proud moment for me." (globalnews.ca, 02 Feb 2021; cbc.ca, 29 Jul 2020; olympic.ca, 01 Jan 2016)

WIFE AND CADDIE
In late 2020 she married her partner Sarah at their home in Chandler, AZ, United States of America. Sarah has also served as her caddie. "Sarah always jokes that if she didn't ask me we would have never got married. I am glad she did, and we officially got married in our backyard. It was an amazing night and a memory that will last forever." (globalnews.ca, 02 Feb 2021)

CHARITY WORK
In 2006 she set up the Alena Sharp Charity Classic event in aid of the Alzheimer's Society of Brant-Hamilton-Halton in Canada. She has also served as an ambassador for the Royal Canadian Golf Association [RCGA] 'For the Cure' programme, which helps to raise money to support the fight against breast cancer.
