General Interest

General
WORLD CUP DISAPPOINTMENT
She says she considered quitting the sport after she missed out on selection for the 2015 World Cup in Canada. "For me at that time it was something that broke me. At that time I thought that I did absolutely everything possible, all the right things to be in that squad. And I was shattered. I was actually shattered, and it really took a toll on my life. For a long time after that I really resented football. I really hated it. I needed to take a step back and really realise that I had just scratched the surface of what I wanted to do in football." (matildas.com.au, 01 Apr 2020)

FOOTBALL FAMILY
She says her family's passion for football encouraged her to pursue the sport. "I always joked about it and said that I never really had a choice. My mum was born in Scotland and my dad is Italian so we come from two sides of the world where football is everything to them. My grandfather was very big into football and so was my dad, so I always joke and say, 'It chose me, instead of I chose it'. I never really had a choice and I think it was the best reason why." (kegworthtimes.com, 07 Sep 2020)

CLUB JOURNEY
She began her professional career at Sydney FC, making her debut at age 18 during the 2011/12 W-League season in Australia. She joined US team Colorado Pride for the 2014 National Women's Soccer League [NWSL] season, before moving to Newcastle Jets for the 2015/16 W-League season. Following a spell in Europe playing for Swedish side Eskilstuna United and Avaldsnes in Norway, she re-joined Sydney FC ahead of the 2017/18 W-League season. After spending the 2019 NWSL season on loan at the Washington Spirit, she joined English club Bristol City in the Women's Super League [WSL] in January 2020. She then completed a move back to the NWSL in January 2021, joining Kansas City for the club's first season in the league. (kcwoso.com, 28 Jan 2021; bcfc.co.uk, 24 Jan 2020)

TATTOOS
She has a number of tattoos, including an owl, a cactus, and symbols that remind her of her family. "I love cactuses. I think they are beautiful and a little bit misunderstood, it represents me. I believe that if I surround myself and tattoo myself with my life story and the people that mean the most to me I'll never forget them." (Optus Sport YouTube channel, 18 Feb 2019)
