He was assistant coach of the Australian men's national football team from 2000 to 2006, and caretaker coach of the team from 2006 to 2007. He returned to his role as assistant coach of the team between 2007 and 2009. At club level, he coached Central Coast Mariners [2010-13] and Sydney FC [2014-18] in the Australian A-league and Vegalta Sendai in Japan for three months in 2014.
