General Interest

General
LEAGUE DEVELOPMENT
In 2008, while serving as head coach of the Australian women's national team, he played an influential role in the initiation of the first professional women's league in the country, the W-League. In 2019 he spoke about his hopes for the W-League to incorporate clubs from New Zealand to help the development of women's football in New Zealand. "New Zealanders are foreign players in the W-League. If they were domestic, it would be great. So being foreign players usually means more experienced international players go there. Most of our eligible players play in Europe and those [European] seasons don't fit in with the W-League, as their leagues end in November. So it's difficult to get players into the W-League. We would love to join both leagues as it would benefit everyone." (equalizersoccer.com, 26 Nov 2013; psvunion.org, Nov 2014; tribalfootball.com, Jul 2019; w-league.com.au, 11 Nov 2019)

EDUCATION
He holds a diploma in education, a qualification in coaching theory, and a diploma from the Australian Coaching Council [ACC]. He also holds an Asian Football Confederation [AFC] Pro Licence in coaching. (psvunion.org, Nov 2014; soccerbook.com, Oct 2018)
