OVERSEAS EXPERIENCE
Following the conclusion of the 2016/17 season, he relocated to England to play for English League Two club Scunthorpe United FC. He returned to New Zealand two years later due to a lack of playing opportunities in England. He signed a contract to play for Auckland City FC ahead of the 2019/20 season. "I just needed to play games this year [speaking in 2019] and I could have sat out my contract there for seven more months and hopefully still made the Olympic team or I could come home, try to play games for seven months, go there with more confidence and be a lot fitter than I would be if I wasn't playing. So I had to make that decision and it was pretty straightforward in the end. I don't regret going because England is obviously the place to be if you want to play at the highest level but I think now it's time to reset and go again."
