General Interest

General
LOW KEY APPROACH
She says she prefers to take an understated and respectful approach to football. "I've never really been a big fan of celebrations, I like to respect the opponent. Sometimes I'll do a little fist pump but that's about it. I'm happy to help the team but I don't really show it as much as other players would do. For me, if I score a goal, I'd rather just open up my arms for the rest to just come in and cuddle me, because you want to celebrate with your team-mates. I don't want to run 30 metres off the pitch to go and do something stupid. It's something you need to enjoy together." (bbc.co.uk, 06 Nov 2020)

FUTURE COACH
She has gained a coaching diploma in England and coaches youth teams at Arsenal. (klaversma.eu, 20 Sep 2019)

AUTHOR
She has co-written a book entitled 'Het Meidenvoetbal Doeboek' [The Girl's Football Book] about women's football. (joe.co.uk, 02 Dec 2018)

Milestones

In December 2019 she scored six goals in one match for Arsenal against Bristol City in the Women's Super League [WSL]. This broke the record for the most goals scored in a single match in the WSL, which was previously set by herself, when she scored five for Arsenal against Liverpool in September 2018. (dreamteamfc.com, 01 Dec 2019)

In June 2019 she scored her 60th goal for the Netherlands, making her the nation's all-time top goalscorer overtaking Manon Mellis. Miedema achieved the feat against Cameroon, scoring twice at the 2019 World Cup in France. She also holds the record across both the men's and women's national teams. (edition.cnn.com, 15 Jun 2019)

She became the youngest player to play in the Dutch Eredivisie when she made her debut for SC Heerenveen at age 15. (90min.com, 02 Dec 2019)
