Her father encouraged her and her siblings to take up the sport. After playing futsal for a number of years, she took part in a football tournament in Recife, Brazil, at age 16, where she was scouted for the U19 national team. "I didn't want to play on the field because the goal was too big. I said I didn't want to, but the goalkeeper coach convinced me to. She didn't have enough players to take part in the tournament and she convinced me to play. We trained for two days and went to the tournament. That was the first time I played on a football field. Our team became champions and I was called to the national team." (cob.org.br, Jul 2015; dibradoras.blogosfera.uol.com.br, 08 Jun 2019)

RETIREMENT THOUGHTS
She considered retiring from football after competing at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, during a period where she was without a club and trained on her own. She decided to continue in the sport six months later when she received an offer to join Brazilian club Kindermann. "I thought, I couldn't sign a contract outside of Brazil because I needed to study. In a situation like this, even if I didn't have a club, I needed to keep on training. I decided to come back with the idea of studying because I was having a sad moment in my life, after having played well at the Olympics and then having been without a club. I received the offer from Kindermann in 2017. I signed with the condition that I was able to study nursing as well, and they accepted." (dibradoras.blogosfera.uol.com.br, 08 Jun 2019)

NURSING
She says she always aspired to study medicine, but felt she would be unable to manage the studying required alongside her football career. In 2017 she began studying nursing at Alto Vale do Rio do Peixe University in Cacador, Brazil. "I chose nursing because it is linked to the health sector. The part I like the most is being in the surgery room. After many surgeries, I realised that this is what I really want to do. It's something I will do for the rest of my life." (dibradoras.blogosfera.uol.com.br, 08 Jun 2019)

TATTOOS
She has a number of tattoos on her body. "I have 32, including tattoos for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the 2012 Olympic Games in London and also one for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro." (ONS, 13 Aug 2016)
