She trained in swimming for four years before her grandmother suggested her left-handedness could be an advantage in fencing. "With a little exaggeration, I didn't even know what fencing was, but I thought we'd take a closer look. I was a little afraid, but everyone was good and open. At first we were just playing, but then I learnt the basics and gradually progressed. I got a lot of praise from the beginning, so it soon became clear that I would stay in the fencing room."
