His half-brother Raffaello Caserta competed at the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games, winning a bronze medal in team sabre in Atlanta in 1996, while his other half-brother Leonardo Caserta has worked as his coach. "It is because of my brother Raffy that I started doing this sport. I remember as a child watching him at competitions on TV and screaming at the screen, thinking that he could hear me. He was a great champion and he often gives me advice after or before a competition. I have never felt pressure because I know that I am supported in what I do by my brothers and my family and this gives me a lot of competitive energy and stimulates me to do well. My relationship with Leo is very particular, to be honest. I would not know how to define our relationship, if it is more like that of brothers or of teacher and student. Certainly we are very close and both very fussy. We energise each other to face the most difficult moments and this is one of our strengths." (anygivensunday.it 27 Jun 2020)
