RIO MEMORIES
She says the memory of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where she lost the individual epee final to Hungarian fencer Emese Szasz-Kovacs, serves as motivation for her. "Of course, when I think about the final, it's painful, but I know this helps me for the future. In addition to her piano studies at the Vincenzo Bellini Institute of Music, she graduated with a degree in dietetics from the University of Catania in Italy in 2020. "Balancing study and sport has become increasingly difficult. In these two months [speaking in May 2020] I have realised that, without lockdown [due to COVID-19] and the Olympic postponement, I would never have been able to finish my studies.
