OLYMPIC AMBITION
He took a break from the sport after failing to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games, and spent time studying for a master's degree in innovation and entrepreneurship at Vlerick Business School in Leuven, Belgium. He also worked as a consultant in Belgium before deciding to become a full-time athlete and focus on securing a place on the US team for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "I felt like I had the opportunity to shoot for the 2016 Olympics, but I never had dedicated all my time to training. I have a real good shot to make this team, so I thought, 'What if I dedicate all my time to fencing? Maybe then I will have a real good shot'."
