Born into a farming family in Dongguan, People's Republic of China, he went on to launch a business selling stone to construction companies. He was then taken to a riding club in 1994 by his business partners and, in 1996, he sold his company and founded his own riding club in Dongguan called the Camelot Riding Resort and Country Club.
