General Interest

General
Great Britain have won gold at both editions of the Olympic Games to feature women's team pursuit. They set three world records on the way to claiming the inaugural Olympic title over 3000m at London 2012, where they beat the United States of America in the final. They defended their gold medal in style four years later in Rio over 4000m with three more world records and another victory over the US team in the final. Laura Kenny and Joanna Rowsell were part of the British team in both 2012 and 2016.

The British team have won more gold medals at the world championships than any other nation, securing six world titles since 2008, but they had to settle for silver at the last three editions of the tournament. They missed out in the gold medal final to the United States of America in 2018 and 2020, and to Australia in 2019. Their six wins at the championships came via back-to-back titles in 2008 and 2009, as well as four consecutive victories between 2011 and 2014.

Great Britain have claimed eight gold medals in 10 appearances at the European championships since 2010. Their record includes victories in the last three editions of the tournament, triumphing in the gold medal final over Italy in 2018 and 2020, and over Germany in 2019.
