Elia Viviani and Simone Consonni placed seventh at the 2020 World Championships in Berlin. The pair have also made two appearances at the European championships together, finishing fourth in 2015 and sixth in 2019.

Viviani has vast experience, both as a track cyclist and a road cyclist. He made seven world championship appearances in madison between 2009 and 2020, winning silver in 2015 with Liam Bertazzo. The same duo secured the European title in 2013, and Viviani also claimed bronze at the 2013 European Championships with Angelo Ciccone.
