TEAM FOUNDER
In 2017 he and his brother Harry were part of a group of cyclists that set up the KGF cycling team. The group funded the project through credit cards and taking money from their student loans, with the intention of giving themselves the opportunity to compete at international level. "If you perform at the top level, [the British Cycling programme] can't ignore you and eventually they'll have to make a choice. That was the thinking behind starting KGF with three friends in Derby [in England]. It was our passion. Nothing has been given to us. The first year [2017] we did the national team pursuit everyone was looking at us thinking, 'Who are these idiots?' At the time the GB [Great Britain] boys were maybe a bit naive and we turned up and beat them by a second in the team pursuit and it shook things up a bit." (cyclist.co.uk, 29 Jun 2018)
