"I didn't practise any sport. I just biked a lot, ran around the back garden, played football with friends, but nothing serious, just random children's activities. One day my friends signed up to the GKS Cartusia Kartuzy club which was in our neighbourhood. I went to a few training sessions, I liked it and asked my parents if I could sign up. I started with mountain biking, then we moved to road cycling, and at age 18 I began track cycling." (rowery.org, 29 May 2018)
