"My father always promoted a healthy lifestyle, and I was drawn to sports. Initially, I was involved in athletics and I also sang. Then I found cycling. At first there were some health issues, but over time I outgrew them. At age 13, I was already competing against older girls. General Interest

General
NATIONAL TEAM VETERAN
She will celebrate her 37th birthday during the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, where she is due to make her third Olympic appearance. "I don't feel like a leader or the favourite. Or even a rival for Belarusian athletes. Everyone wants to win a medal, and you shouldn't think that only one person can win and the rest should work for her. So, I rather feel like an example for young people. It would be great for our athletes to follow me and therefore I share experience, advice, and help. When I leave the sport, it's very important that Belarusian athletes who stay after me continue to win gold medals for our country." (sb.by, 30 Jun 2019)

SANCTION
She tested positive for the banned substance tuaminoheptane at the 2012 European Championships in Panevezys, Lithuania, and at the 2012 World Cup event in Glasgow, Scotland. In April 2013 she was given an 18-month suspension by the International Cycling Union [UCI]. (uci.ch, 01 Jul 2016; sportpanorama.by, 21 Aug 2014; gp.by, 24 Apr 2013)
