"We speak Russian at home, but this is one of the few things that binds me to Russia. I have never lived there. Now I represent the Russian national team, but the plan is to one day make my way to the French team. A change of citizenship would make me miss the Tokyo Olympics, and this is perhaps the only tournament of my career that fits my profile. The Olympics with a vertical drop of more than 4000 metres is a rarity. I will regret it if I miss this chance. At first I said to myself, 'Well, okay, I will miss the Olympics'.
