FUTURE PLANS
He will be age 37 at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, and hopes to continue competing until he is age 40. "My ultimate goal is to get to 40. When I was 30 I said that I wanted to do a couple more years and it's getting harder and harder between COVID, team restrictions, rider numbers going down on teams, but I'm motivated to train, stay fit, and continue for as long as I can." (stickybottle.com, 16 Mar 2021; procyclingstats.com, 31 Dec 2020; cyclingnews.com, 01 Dec 2020)

BOOK
In 2011 he released an autobiography called, 'Inside the Peloton, My Life as a Professional Cyclist'. (uk.eurosport.yahoo.com, 09 Mar 2012; nicolasroche.com, 11 Oct 2011)

DUAL CITIZENSHIP
He has a French mother and is a dual citizen of France and Ireland. He began riding under an Irish licence before switching to a French one in 2005 when he was incorrectly told that dual nationality was not possible under French law and he would have to choose between the two countries. He switched back to an Irish licence in early 2006 after he was informed of the error. (cyclingnews.com, 11 Oct 2005, 05 Mar 2005)
