His father Neil represented Great Britain in road cycling at the Olympic Games in 1980 and 1984. His uncle Stephen Roche also competed in the sport and won both the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia in 1987. His cousin Nicolas Roche has represented cycling teams on the World Tour, and also competed for Ireland at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. His wife Jessica Martin [nee Andrews] has represented Great Britain in athletics. She was ranked ninth in the 5000m at the 2016 Diamond League meet in Birmingham, England.
