FUNDING ISSUES
In October 2017 she left British Cycling due to a lack of available funding. She worked as a teaching assistant and began a crowdfunding effort to raise funds for her BMX racing career. However, in 2019 she again received funding from British Cycling ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "When they [British Cycling] first told us about the funding situation we thought it was the end of the world and how would we cope? And it does make things quite difficult for my family financially, because now we would have to pay to get me to all the events, where BC [British Cycling] would sort out everything for me and take me abroad. I am still allowed to train in Manchester at sessions, British Cycling are still so supportive and I still have a good relationship with them, it wasn't their decision at the end of the day it was UK Sport who cut the funding not British Cycling. I spent time finding a part-time job so I could bring in an income whilst still being able to fit in all of my training." LIFE AFTER BMX RACING
She would like to pursue a career as a primary school teacher following her retirement from competitive BMX racing. "I'm quite passionate about that [teaching] as well. I think at the start I did say I only wanted to do Tokyo [2020 Olympic Games] and then I've had loads of conversations with people and they're like you only get one chance to do this so you might as well make the most of it and have a good time to do it."
