He began paddling at age 12 in Hungary. "When I first started, I wasn't very talented. My technique wasn't the best. I was pretty stubborn. I remember my first race. A local club coach visited his primary school in Hungary and offered an incentive to take up the sport. "He offered one kilogram of gummy bears for whoever joins the club. I have a sweet tooth.
