Her mother noticed an advertisement in the newspaper about a youth programme and signed her up. "I think it was a very good way to babysit me in the summer. To be honest, I don't think I enjoyed it too much and I definitely didn't enjoy the physical aspects of it. But I made so many good friends at the club and just gradually kept with it each summer."
